Dr Philip McAleenan FInstLM

Professional Member of American Society of Safety Engineers

Philip is co-developer of the Operation Analysis and Control model for safety. His research into workplace culture, leadership and ethics reasoning led to developing the Organisation Cultural Maturity Index and to undergraduate modules on ethics reasoning in construction. He publishes extensively, contributing to safety books in UK and USA, and to books on workplace culture and leadership. Internationally, he regularly presents to OSH conferences, including ILO World Congresses and to professional development in US and Canada. He is a regular contributor to CIB W099 and assisted in the organisation and management of its 2015 'Belfast' conference, “Benefitting Workers and Society through Inherently Safe[r] Construction.

Dr Ciaran McAleenan CEng MICE

Ciaran a chartered civil engineer working in industry since 1978, has designed and constructed water industry infrastructure projects, developed and implemented H&S and road design standards and managed major road construction projects. His academic interests involve teaching and research in the fields of safety, health and wellbeing, business management, disaster resilience and civic ecology. A member of the Institution of Civil Engineers’ editorial board for ‘Management, Procurement and Law’ journal he is an advanced registrant of and sits on its 'Health and Safety Register' Steering Group. He regularly presents at World and International Congresses and in 2015 he hosted the CIBW099 conference featuring the world's best H&S researchers.
